"Effect of heterogeneities on mantle dynamics"

The 4th Young Earth Scientist Association (YESA) workshop was held at GRC on 1-2 September, 2011. This year's theme was "Effect of heterogeneities on mantle dynamics", and various topics from the view of laboratory experiment, seismic observations, and numerical simulation were shown. Vigorous discussions were inspired for many young scientists about 13 talks, where 9 talks were given by invited young scientists from JAMSTEC, Univ. Tokyo, Tokyo Tech, and Hiroshima Univ. The workshop successfully helped build up a platform for communications among young scientists from various fields.
